Visqueen Polyethylene Damp Proof Course (DPC)

Visqueen Polyethylene DPC is installed on an even bed of wet mortar in masonry wall construction, with at least one further course of masonry laid as soon as possible after laying to ensure mortar adhesion. The DPC must extend through the full thickness of the masonry wall including pointing and any applied render or facing materials. On sleeper walls below suspended ground floors it can be dry laid, provided all sharp protrusions are removed from the substrate.

• Visqueen Polyethylene Damp Proof Course is suitable for various masonry applications in accordance with Appendix D of BS 6515:1984.
• BS 6515: 1984 Appendix D recommends that the DPC is not suitable for use above lintels in cavity walls i.e. not suitable for use as a cavity tray
• Where relevant, please refer to warranty providers standards to ensure suitability for the application considered e.g. some warranty providers state that damp proof courses manufactured to BS 6515: 1984 are not suitable for use as cavity trays but are suitable for use as a DPC to prevent moisture rising from the ground.
