SikaMix Frostproofer and Hardener

SikaMix Frostproofer and Hardener is a chloride free liquid admixture that accelerates the setting and hardening of mortar, concrete, screeds and render, while providing frost protection during the setting period down to -8°C. This makes it an essential admixture for cold weather working, keeping construction programmes moving when temperatures drop. It can also be used in normal temperatures where a faster set is required, and when mixed neat with cement it acts as an emergency repair plugging aid with a setting time of just 2–3 minutes. Non-corrosive to metals, so safe for use with brick ties. Suitable for mortars, floor screeds, internal and external renders, and non-structural concrete. Certified to BS EN 934-2. Available in 5L jerry cans.

Good to know

• Dosage rate depends on ambient temperature, 2.5L per 50kg cement down to -4°C; 5L per 50kg cement down to -8°C
• Add to the gauging water before combining with dry materials
• As a plugging aid: mix neat with fresh OPC, sets in approximately 2–3 minutes at +20°C
• For concrete (1:2:4 mix): 5L per 50kg cement gives a setting time of approximately 2.5 hours at +20°C
• For floor screeds (1:3 mix): 5L per 50kg cement gives a setting time of approximately 2 hours at +20°C
• Not for use in structural concrete applications
• Store between +5°C and +40°C in dry conditions away from direct sunlight, protect from frost
• Shelf life 36 months from date of manufacture | Available in 5L jerry cans
