RIW Granules

RIW Granules are chemically treated sodium bentonite granules designed as a specialist detailing accessory for use with the RIW Structureseal waterproofing system. When hydrated and in containment, the granules form a dense, impermeable material that integrates with the sodium bentonite in Structureseal to create a continuous, seamless waterproof membrane.

The granules can be used in two ways depending on the application. Used loose, they are ideal for filling cavities, voids and irregular areas in the substrate that require additional waterproofing protection prior to the main Structureseal installation. Alternatively, the granules can be mixed with water to form a workable paste, generally applied at 5mm thickness, which bonds to most materials and is suitable for a range of detailing tasks.

When used as a paste, RIW Granules are suitable for forming fillets at horizontal and vertical internal corners, flashing around drains, mechanical and electrical penetrations and kerbs, repairing small defects in concrete substrate surfaces, and as a trowel-grade material for filling and levelling irregular horizontal substrates.

Good to know

• Remove dirt and other debris from the area to receive the mixed/placed material.
• The product may be applied where ambient and surface temperatures are -4° C or above
• Preparation to form a paste: Fill plastic bucket with Granules and add clean water to cover the visible surface area. There is no set proportions and mixing is not
  required. Allow the water to soak into the material for a few seconds, and a crust will form. Remove the wet crust, mould into a ‘sausage’ shape, and apply. If there is too much water on the surface, break through the crust to expose the granules beneath. If the surface is too dry, add more water as necessary
