RIW Waterstop is a sodium bentonite based hydrophilic waterstop designed to prevent water infiltration through in-situ concrete construction joints. When it contacts water, the sodium bentonite swells to form a permanent pressure seal within the joint, eliminating water migration over or along the waterstop. It is designed to replace passive PVC and rubber type waterbars, removing the need for special pieces and seam welding.

Description

RIW Waterstop is a simple yet highly effective solution for waterproofing construction joints in reinforced concrete structures. Rather than relying on a passive mechanical barrier, the sodium bentonite core swells on contact with water, generating a self-sealing pressure seal that tightens under hydrostatic load. This active swelling mechanism maintains an impermeable barrier throughout the life of the structure and accommodates minor joint movement without compromising performance.
