Description
Description
Newton Expansion Pins are specialist reinforcement components designed to significantly enhance the fixing strength of Newton cavity drain membranes. When a standard fixing plug, such as the MultiPlug or Brick Plug, is installed into a weaker or friable substrate, like old brickwork, stone, or loose mortar, the mechanical grip may not be sufficient. Inserting these pins into the core of the plug causes the outer circumference to expand by nearly 2mm, forcing the plug to bite more deeply and securely into the wall. This expansion creates a highly stable fixing point that resists pull-out, ensuring the membrane remains tight against the substrate even in challenging structural conditions.
Benefits
- Provides a significantly stronger and more stable fix in poor or "soft" substrates
- Expands the fixing plug circumference by nearly 2mm for maximum grip
- Simple and quick to install by hammering into the center of an already inserted plug
- Ensures long-term stability for membranes under the weight of internal finishes
- Compatible with multiple Newton fixings, including MultiPlugs and Brick Plugs
Good to know
- These pins are supplied in bags of 100 units
- The product is identified by the product code A4
- They are manufactured from high-grade, durable plastic to prevent bending during installation
- While they are essential for poor substrates, they must be ordered as a separate item for use with MultiPlugs
- The pins are designed to be hammered in flush with the head of the fixing plug
- These pins are automatically included with Newtonite Cob Plugs but are optional ancillaries for standard CDM plugs
