Newton FlexProof 106 NV 7.5kg | Pourable Movement Joint Waterproofing

Newton Waterproofing  |  SKU: BM06393
Newton FlexProof 106 NV is a low-viscosity, pourable version of FlexProof 106, designed for waterproofing horizontal movement joints and surfaces. It pours straight from the foil bag into the joint, cures into an exceptionally flexible rubber-like seal, and stays watertight even as the joint moves, handling up to 20% expansion and compression and 10% shear.

Description

Movement joints are built into concrete slabs, decks and floors so the structure can expand, contract and shift without cracking. But a gap designed to move is also a gap water can travel through, and sealing it is a challenge: the sealant has to stay flexible enough to follow the movement without tearing, splitting or pulling away from the sides. Newton FlexProof 106 NV is made for exactly that job on horizontal surfaces.

The NV variant has a lower viscosity than the thicker X1 paste, so instead of trowelling it, you simply pour it straight from the foil bag into the joint, where it flows to fill the space neatly. It cures into a tough elastomeric seal and is the most flexible of the FlexProof 106 range, with an elongation at break of up to 450%. It bonds superbly to concrete and most other building materials, including block, screed, metal, plastic, timber and glass. It stays watertight against water pressure even when the joint moves by up to 20% in expansion and compression and 10% in shear, and it isn't affected by the high alkalinity of fresh concrete.

As a single-component product, there's no mixing and no pot life, and a rain-tight skin forms within minutes, so a passing shower won't spoil the work. Once cured, it performs from -40°C to +90°C. It's ideal for sealing horizontal movement joints in slabs, podium decks, basements and floors, as well as joints between different materials that move at different rates.

Benefits

  • Low-viscosity formula pours straight from the bag into horizontal joints
  • Exceptionally flexible, with up to 450% elongation at break
  • Stays watertight with up to 20% expansion and compression and 10% shear
  • Resists both positive and negative side water pressure
  • Rain-tight skin forms within minutes of application
  • Excellent resistance to the high alkalinity of concrete
  • Strong bond to concrete, block, screed, metal, plastic, timber and glass
  • Single component, with no mixing and no pot life
  • Performs from -40°C to +90°C and is VOC-free

Good to Know

  • Supplied as a 7.5kg foil bag inside a tub, grey
  • Best suited to horizontal surfaces and movement joints; for vertical joints and construction joints, the thicker X1 variant is more suitable
  • Ideal for pouring into joints of 18–72mm wide; for narrower joints, decant into an empty cartridge and apply with a mastic gun
  • Insert a foam backing rod roughly 1.5 times the joint width, then fill to a depth of half the joint width
  • Approximate coverage per bag in movement joints: around 21m of a 20mm joint, 9m of a 30mm joint, or 5m of a 40mm joint
  • On flat surfaces, apply 2.0mm thick at 3.0kg/m², giving approximately 2.5m² per bag
  • Mask both sides of the joint with tape for a neat finish, and smooth with a soapy wet knife if needed
  • Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, laitance, release agents, oils and paint
  • Use a suitable primer in movement joints, on porous surfaces, and where resisting water pressure from the inside
  • Apply between +1°C and +35°C; do not apply to wet, frozen or icy surfaces
  • Ready for protection boards in 20–30 minutes; cures at roughly 24 hours per mm of depth at 20°C
  • Not suitable as a vehicle or pedestrian traffic surface
  • Clean tools with a rag before curing; xylene helps remove partly cured product
