Description

Newton HydroBond 314 Bentonite Granules are composed of naturally occurring sodium bentonite, a highly absorbent clay that swells upon contact with water. When hydrated, these granules expand up to 15 times their initial size to form a dense, impermeable paste that provides a self-sealing barrier. This product is specifically designed for detailing within the Newton HydroBond System, particularly where membranes terminate at complex building elements such as piled walls, support piles, pile caps, and service pipe protrusions. When confined within a structural joint, the controlled swell ensures a permanent and robust seal against water ingress.

Benefits

  • Hydrophilic properties allow it to swell to 15 times its original size when wet
  • Creates a persistently elastic, self-sealing barrier that will not become brittle
  • Highly resistant to water pressure and suitable for both new and remedial projects
  • Simple to apply by hand and can be installed in almost any weather condition
  • Natural product with no VOCs and lower cost than polymer-based alternatives

Good to know

  • Supplied in 20kg bags
  • Light tan in colour
  • Coverage is approximately 20 linear metres for a 40mm x 40mm fillet
  • Can be mixed with clean fresh water to form a sealing paste or poured dry into inverted fillets
